Screw Pine are palm-like, dioecious trees and shrubs native to the Old World tropics and subtropics. Common names include pandan, screw palm.

The trunk features aerial prop roots. The leaves are linear and spiny, with a spiral arrangement on the tree. The leaves are also dried out and rolled, and used to make mats in Kerala, India; and Hawaii. The fruit is eaten raw or cooked. Small-fruited pandanus may be bitter and astringent.
